smks: ice cream

Today we were at the store buying ice cream (consolation prize for vaccination day) and uhhhh Shanna lectured a guy at the grocery store. She asked him what kind of ice cream he was buying. He said vanilla. She said, “All the ones my mama looked at have corn syrup. And that’s not good….”
He looked at her funny. Then he walked out with his two half gallons of store brand vanilla.

    Sweet!

I was at Berkeley Bowl last weekend. A girl around 9 or 10 was eyeing things in the jam aisle. She asked her dad what apple butter was, and he wasn’t sure, so I turned around and explained it to them.

    “Can I try some, dad?”

He asked me what was in it, and I said usually just apples and spices and sugar. “A lot of sugar?” “Less than most jellies and jams.”

Meanwhile, the girl was reading labels. “This one has corn syrup in it, so it’s not good. Oh, this one doesn’t. Can I get it, dad?”
